Morty’s Comedy Joint
Morty’s is a new and successful comedy club on the north side of Indianapolis. Opening their doors in August of 2006, they have quickly made a name for themselves as a ‘place to be’ in Indy. Their excellent talent, state of the art audiovisual system, first class dining, and inviting ambience makes Morty’s a terrific place to spend an enjoyable evening out.
In November of 2006, Morty’s general manager Avery Dellinger asked Pinpoint AV to evaluate their sound and lighting systems and investigate several maintenance issues they were having. Pinpoint quickly determined that significant wiring and installation issues existed and needed to be resolved. In addition, Avery asked if anything could be done to make the AV system a bit easier to operate. Pinpoint said ‘Yes’!
The first item of business was to evaluate the system. In doing so, Pinpoint AV determined that several stage lights needed to be rebuilt, and the sound system needed to be rewired to eliminate noises in the system. This was done and the results were significant. The sound system returned to its terrific form, and the stage lights all functioned properly.
Owner, Eric Shorts comments: “We’ve enjoyed having Pinpoint AV come in and help us. They’ve been friendly and competent and made our club’s AV technology work which is most important.”
After the first service session, further evaluation identified that some of the problems with the lighting might be caused when the circuit breakers for the lights were thrown. Pinpoint AV changed the settings on the lighting control so that the lights could be turned off without throwing the circuit breaker. This has eliminated all problems with premature lamp life and blown fuses.
Currently, Morty’s is working with Pinpoint AV to provide an ongoing preventive maintenance program as well as technical support for their corporate events and meetings.
Second Presbyterian Sanctuary Video System
In 2007, Second Presbyterian Church took a huge step forward and opened a new addition to their church. Included in the new addition were state of the art audiovisual systems designed to allow meetings and events to be presented in several venues. At the same time, a decision was made to equip the Sanctuary with video cameras in an effort to provide overflow viewing of Sanctuary events in the new building.
Pinpoint AV owner Dave Anderson, a long time member of the congregation, volunteered help coordinate the technical efforts necessary to ‘broadcast’ the Easter program and the Grand Opening of the new building several weeks later. It was soon clear that some additional coordination and technical work was necessary to complete the system. Working with the staff and Second Church, Pinpoint AV engaged to help get the job done. The first step was preparing for the first two broadcasts. The new systems were fully tested and temporary connections were made to insure that good audio and video would be transmitted to the new hall. With the first broadcasts out of the way, Pinpoint AV redesigned the Sanctuary system layout and rewired the system. The result is a first class production system that can video tape, audio tape, present video, and broadcast video. Dave has continued his volunteer efforts to find and train additional volunteers who will videotape Sunday services. This will now allow Second Presbyterian Church members the chance to see and hear the services held each week.
Moving forward, Pinpoint AV continues to work with the church to identify best uses for the new and existing technology. Currently, Pinpoint AV is providing a lifespan analysis for the church. This will help them better budget for equipment replacements and reduce unplanned emergencies that arise when equipment fails.
